Be True To You
Tuesdays
4:30pm-5:45pm
January 26-May 4, 2021

This poetry workshop is designed for students grades 9-12 to write their own poetry, in their own words. The goal is for them to develop a book of 10 polished poems of their own writing, in their own clear authentic voice. We will be reading poems from famous and established poets, to assist them with creative ideas they can use toward their own writing. Students will have a collection of 10 polished poems, and the confidence to read their poems in their own unique voice. In May, workshop participants share their work with a live, virtual audience.

A performance arts readiness class and follow-up to All about Improv
Lights! Camera! Action! Imagine yourself on the big stage, taking charge and performing at the best of your capability. Envision the crowd, the cheering, the clapping and your name being chanted over and over. You just recited a poem, you finished an amazing song, perhaps you performed your favorite monologue, maybe you were even the host. Whatever you performed, you performed it well and you were well received by all who came to experience you. This can be you. In fact, it will be YOU. In this class you will learn the ends and outs about performance. Whether you are an actor, singer, host, poet or have aspirations of being on stage this class is for you.
As a follow up to the exciting class this past fall; All About Improv, we will do a deeper dig into improv as it relates to performing. Improv is spontaneous.
In this class we will study the mind, body and voice and all it takes to be the best and right kind of performer you want to be. Below are just a few of the concepts we will explore in depth.
